Pressure is applied at specific sites around the body (such as the hands and feet), to have an effect upon another area of the body. We believe that the body is divided into zones (see diagram), and that energy flows through these zones. Conditions / problems in body and mind can impede the flow of energy thus the body does not work as effectively as it potentially could. The aim of the Reflexologist would be to use specific pressure point massage techniques on the reflex points of hands, feet or ears to free the flow of energy and enable the body to heal itself.
Reflexologists do not feel that they offer a ‘cure all’ but do believe that they can enable the body’s own healing capacity to work more efficiently.

Hot stone massage can be used for a variety of ailments, or simply for a deep level of Hot stone massage feet relaxation and is particularly effective for relieving muscle tension, rheumatic or arthritic conditions, Multiple Sclerosis, back pain, nervous conditions and stress and anxiety.​

What happens during a hot stone treatment?
You will be asked to remove your clothing (except underpants) behind a privacy screen and make yourself comfortable on the massage couch, with a large towel to cover your body. During the massage, only the part of your body being massaged will be exposed, to ensure your modesty.
​
A full body massage usually treats the back, legs, abdomen, arms, upper chest and neck, although this can be adapted to suit your individual requirements or preferences.​
​
After-care advice
Hot stone massage has a very detoxifying effect on the body and you can encourage this by drinking plenty of water and avoiding caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for the next 24 hours. Also try to avoid any strenuous exercise for 24 hours following treatment and try to rest and allow your body to heal from within and keep the rest of your day free to really enjoy the benefits!

Please Read: Hot Stone massage is not appropriate if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or are on medication that thins your blood. You shouldn't get a hot stone massage if you are pregnant or have a sunburn. You also may want to reconsider if you are menopausal, as it may trigger a hot flash.
